Castles Nets, Sivakumar Attacks

Katie Castles ‘23
As lacrosse begins, our first athlete of the week, Katie Castles ‘23, starts stretching for a great season. Castles began this year’s season strong, with her stats adding to 26 goals, four assists, and thirty ground balls already. In their second game, against St. Thomas Aquinas, she scored five goals and had five ground balls. Next, at their game against Nottingham on April 8, she scored six goals, totaling to her hundredth career goal at Edison High. She has continued with wins against South Plainfield, where she netted six goals, and our cross-town rivals, J.P. Stevens. With the girls lacrosse team’s season just beginning, Castles continues to play like she never has before in her final season with the Eagles.

Ajit Sivakumar ’25

Our Frank N. Cangelosi Gymnasium opens up for the new boys volleyball season, where our next athlete of the week, Ajit Sivakumar ‘25, can be found. Sivakumar is #5 as outside hitter, already adding his stats up for this season to 41 kills, two blocks, 25 digs, 24 service points, and nine aces. His best match so far this season has been against Woodbridge, where he totaled seventeen kills, six digs, and two service points for the team, helping them to their 2–0 win. As a sophomore starter, Sivakumar shows not only a bright season ahead for him and his team, but for the rest of his career here at Edison High.
