Kristina Persaud ‘24 has been selected as February’s Rotary Senior of the Month for Edison High School.

During her junior year of high school, Kristina Persaud ‘24 joined the National Business Honor Society (NBHS) and gained the presidency in her senior year. She felt drawn into her father’s work, who works in Financial Controls. Following her interest in business and admiration for her father, Persaud took seven business-oriented courses throughout her high school career.

In college, Persaud hopes to pursue a bachelor’s degree in either a business or science field. She plans to remain passionate and devoted when it comes to her education no matter what career path she chooses.

My education became my biggest friend. I was investing more time into it, and felt happier seeing myself produce better results without being under the pressure of other people.

At home, Persaud loves playing games on her Nintendo Switch. Animal Crossing is one of her favorites since she can spend hours redecorating her island, having conversations with villagers, and visiting other islands with her siblings. She also enjoys writing in her free time.

“Personally, writing is always rejuvenating for me after a long day; documenting my experiences and taking on certain topics is a way for me to ‘vent’ and reflect,” said Persaud.

Persaud’s best life lesson was to stay true to herself and never cave to outside influences. Living up to others’ expectations often left her feeling isolated. She decided to focus solely on her well-being, eventually finding herself.
“My education became my biggest friend. I was investing more time into it, and felt happier seeing myself produce better results without being under the pressure of other people,” said Persaud.

She stays motivated when facing challenges by reminding herself of her inner flame and how everyone has something to work toward, whether it be short-term or long-term goals. If you let that flame go, success becomes difficult to attain.

One word to describe Persaud’s high school experience is “kaleidoscopic.” She believes it was colorful, ever-changing, and full of new experiences.
