On October 31, Edison High held its annual Halloween Costume Contest. This event has allowed students to compete for the first-place prize of a $20 gift card while showing off their Halloween spirit.

Students who received a golden ticket for their costumes went to the auditorium during Period 2. Grades were called one by one to line up and walk on the stage, and the student audience applauded as their fellow classmates displayed their outfits.

“I loved the contest! I loved seeing all the costumes and met many very nice people,” said Madison Rodriguez ‘29, a participant in the competition.

This contest brought the EHS community together as participants met new people and shared their love for Halloween. Each grade was seen talking amongst each other, discussing the thought process behind their costumes.

  • Edison High School’s annual Halloween costume contest celebrated student creativity, showcasing a diverse array of costumes and themes.

  • Eric Mendez ’26 and Gabriela Mora Herrera ’26, dressed as The White Chicks, won 2nd place!

  • Madison Rodriguez ’29 is dressed as Caine from the Amazing Digital Circus, which she hand-made over a period of 2 months.

The awaited victors of the contest were announced during Period 9/10 after the judges, including Ms. Erin Panepinto and Ms. Elizabeth Fedowitz, finalized their decisions.

“The winners were selected based on those votes, ensuring a fair and organized judging process,” said Fedowitz.

The winners of the 2025 Halloween Costume Contest for the fourth year in a row were the Sesame Street Seniors — Breanna Smithen ‘26, Suzette Stephen ‘26, Willow Edema ‘26, and Zoreena Scott ‘28.

“I feel great about winning the contest because my hard work is getting recognition. We have been friends all four years of high school, so it feels like a walk down memory lane,” said Smithen.

Ultimately, Edison High had another successful costume contest, showcasing EHS’s creativity, passion, and unity.
