Class of 2026 President and National Honor Society (NHS) member Syesha Fraser ‘26 has been honored as Rotary’s Senior of the Month for March. Over her four years at EHS, Fraser has developed as both a student and a leader, engaging in many public service and extracurricular activities.
When Fraser learned she had been selected, she was initially surprised.
“When Dr. Loufek called me into her office, I became concerned that I was in trouble, but once I sat down, she told me I was being honored as the March Senior of the Month,” said Fraser.
For Fraser, one of the most meaningful parts of her time at Edison High has been serving as Class President. She said the role strengthened her passion for student government and also taught her valuable leadership skills. Through the position, she developed her public speaking skills and learned to build stronger relationships with others.
Outside of leadership, Fraser credits her mother, friends, and desire to find a sense of purpose as her biggest sources of motivation. Some of her favorite memories from high school include winning homecoming queen, her induction into NHS, her election to Class President, participation in Black History Month shows, joining the Black Student Union’s Juneteenth cookouts, and senior superlative recognition as most likely to succeed and best dressed.
Fraser also expressed gratitude for two staff members who supported her throughout high school.
“I thank Mr. Michael Piccolo and Ms. Jenna Logan-Wydrinski for helping me grow throughout high school,” said Fraser. “They have always supported me and had my best interests in mind.”
Looking ahead, Fraser plans to attend a four-year university and earn a bachelor’s degree in political science before going on to law school. She hopes to work first as a criminal defense attorney, then as a district attorney prosecutor. She also hopes to eventually pursue elected office as a state attorney general or a member of Congress.
For underclassmen, Fraser’s advice is to make the most out of high school by exploring interests, colleges, and careers. She emphasizes building relationships with faculty and staying accountable. Lastly, she encourages students to pursue leadership roles out of genuine passion rather than for appearances alone.
