Edison High’s Cross Country and Track Team Captain Annalise Dantes ‘26 has been honored as Rotary’s Senior of the Month for April.
Throughout high school, Dantes has served as president of DECA and NHS. She has also participated in the Chamber Orchestra, Science Olympiad, and RISE. But more than any single title, what she treasures the most about high school is the experiences those activities made possible.
“I’ve loved going on trips with different clubs like orchestra, DECA, and Science Olympiad,” said Dantes. “It’s fun to compete for the school, win awards, and get a chance to travel with my friends.”
She also noted the bonds formed through athletics and the mutual support she and her teammates have shared at meets throughout her high school career. When asked what she most wants people to know about her, Dantes highlights her resilience and drive.
“I love challenges,” said Dantes. “High school and figuring out my future wasn’t easy for me, and things didn’t go exactly how I wanted it to, but I’ve pushed myself to rise to the occasion when needed, and I’ve come out of every challenge a better person.”
Dantes credits AP Physics teacher Ms. Kruti Singh with providing encouragement and inspiration over two years and playing a meaningful role in helping her decide what she wanted to pursue as a career.
After graduation, Dantes plans to attend the University of Florida to study aerospace engineering, with ambitions to continue her extracurriculars and begin interning as early as her freshman year.
To underclassmen, she offers advice from her own experience of self-discovery.
“Give yourself the chance to explore your interests,” said Dantes. “It’s normal to come into high school unsure of what you want to do with your life, so use the resources available to you and take advantage of every opportunity to discover what you like.”
