Tennis Prevails Over Edison Magnet in 5-0 Sweep

On Tuesday, April 14, the Edison High School boys varsity tennis team achieved a dominating 5–0 victory over Edison Magnet in a GMC Red Division matchup. The Eagles delivered strong performances throughout, winning all their games to improve their overall season record to 4–5.

In the first singles match, Vinieth Elango ‘27 earned the win when his opponent retired, giving Edison an early advantage. Pranav Srinivasan ‘27 won the second singles match 7–6, 6–3. Third singles player Arnav Arora ‘28 dominated his match with a 6–0, 6–0 victory.

“We’re pleased with this result and excited to take on some of the stronger teams ahead,” said Srinivasan

The doubles teams continued the momentum for the Eagles. In the first doubles match, Advik Mishra ‘27 and Rithvik Kalikivai ‘29 secured a 6–4, 6–1 win. The second doubles team of Daksh Mahajan ‘29 and Anvay Tomar ‘29 won with a solid 6–2, 6–1 performance.

“We were really focused throughout the match, and it really felt like we gained momentum after the first few points,”

With contributions from both singles and doubles, Edison demonstrated depth and consistency throughout the lineup.

“Tennis is usually seen as a more individual sport, but doubles forces you to work together and trust each other. We were able to stay in sync and support each other throughout the match,” said Mahajan. Overall, the Eagles’ all-around performance underscored their ability to control matches completely, earning a crucial conference win.
