Jessica Bangura ‘24’s high school career consists of her love for music and devotion to her religion, Christianity. She has been in the treble choir for three years and is a music minister at her local church. She is also a part of a youth club, called the Great Grace Evangelistic Youth Ministries (GGEM Youth), and the members are young adults and children from the church. Bangura is the secretary of this youth group, where she contributes by planning different events.
One high school memory Bangura will always cherish is the choir trip to Disney during the 2022 – 2023 school year. She cherishes the connections she made with others and the fun aspects, such as the food and rides.
After school, Bangura makes sure all of her schoolwork is done before spending time working out or being at Bible study with her brother. However, she engages in many other activities as well.
“Some interests I have are cooking, singing, and watching early 2000s movies,” said Bangura.
After high school, Bangura hopes to attend Penn State and major in Biology on a pre-med route. Ultimately, she wants to become either a pediatrician or pediatric physician.
She admires her mother as a role model because of the hardships she overcame and appreciates the valuable advice passed down to her.
To motivate herself during difficult times, Bangura relies on her faith and pushes herself with positivity and confidence.
She is grateful for her high school experience, the lessons learned, and the growth gained.
“The challenges that you face in life are not to destroy you, but to develop you into the best version of yourself,” said Bangura.
