Tuesday, January 23 marked Senior Night for the Edison boys basketball team. Accompanied by family and friends, seniors Ricky Harvey ‘24, Gideon Osiemo ‘24, Kabir Kazeem ‘24, and Tori’ahn Rattray ‘24 were recognized and celebrated for their commitment to the team along with their future aspirations.
After the acknowledgments, Edison faced off against the New Brunswick Zebras in an evenly matched game. After the first quarter, the score was 8–7 in favor of New Brunswick, but Edison fell behind in the second quarter, finishing with a score of 26–17. In the third quarter, both teams scored fourteen points, so Edison entered the final quarter down nine points. Tirelessly fighting, Edison fell short of a comeback, the final score reading 50–46.
Harvey led the team in scoring with eighteen points, making four field goals and three three-point shots, the most made by a player from either team. He also completed seven of his ten free throws from the line.
Rattray followed up in score for Edison with nine points, making a team-leading three two-pointers and another three-pointer. Additionally, Dheeraj Samparaboyina ‘26 scored eight points, hitting two three-pointers and two of his three free throws, and Kamir McKay ‘25 scored six points, hitting two three-pointers of his own.
Despite the loss, the Eagles look to learn from missed opportunities to ensure that they end the season on a strong note.
“We just got to play with more effort, all of us,” said Harvey. “We all made mistakes that we have to learn and grow from.”
Head Coach Mr. Charlie Mohr also remained optimistic about the rest of the season, hoping to improve as the last leg of the season approaches.
“Unfortunately we did not win the game on Senior Night but we played a really good second half. New Brunswick played very well,” Mohr said. “We just had a huge win vs JP Stevens in the City of Light game. We have improved over the course of the season and hope to continue to improve.”

Edison is now 4–13 overall, and they play their next game at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, at North Brunswick.
