Driven by his burning passion for technology, Hoang Nhan Le ‘24, better known as Jimmy, is February’s Rotary Senior of the Month.

At the young age of eight, Jimmy fell in love with computers. Le started his career with Lego Robots, and later, found himself using Arduino kits. Later, he took a software class and received certification for programming in Python during high school. In his sophomore year, Le also took an elective in Java and he started researching software languages such as C and C++.

Showcasing his passion for computer science, Le became a part of the Game Development Club and is currently the president of the club. He’s also a part of ESPORTs and has attained one of the highest ranks in a game called Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) (Le is one of the highest at level 7).

Le came from Vietnam to the US in 2019, and he credits EHS students and staff for making him feel more confident by taking him out of his comfort zone. He feels that moving to the country provided him with more opportunities and allowed him to meet new people. Le appreciates Ms. Sara Yocum, Ms. Antonella Marhefka, and Ms. Maria Fulham for making EHS a memorable experience. He’s also met friends that led him into multiple other extracurriculars such as the Marching Band.

“Don’t be like any other person. Be yourself,” said Le.

Le plans to attend Rutgers or Stevens Institute of Technology for computer engineering and take a test to receive his US citizenship this year. He is eager to learn more about computers in college.
