APRIL GODOY ’25

Founder of Hispanic Heritage Club (Orgullo Latino) and avid member of cheer, lacrosse, and orchestra; April Godoy ‘25 has been recognized as October’s Rotary Senior of the Month.

During her time at EHS, Godoy has been an active member of the cheerleading team, an attack player for the lacrosse team, and sits as second violin for the orchestra. She also started the Hispanic Heritage Club, Orgullo Latino, which plans to have an exhibit in the art gallery in the municipal building, one dedicated to representing the Hispanic community in Edison and worldwide. In her free time, she works as a swim instructor and banquet waitress.

As her time at EHS nears to an end, Godoy is first and foremost grateful for her teachers, family, and friends, who have kept her grounded in the academic and personal aspects of her life. She is grateful in particular to Mr. Ross for his “unwavering commitment to helping his students”, Mr. Glackin, who has been a supporting figure by believing in her and giving her good advice, and her cheer team, whom she considers “her rock.”

After graduation, Godoy plans to attend a four-year college, majoring in public health and policy. Following that, she aspires to attend dental school and specialize in orthodontics. Additionally, as a personal goal, she hopes to have traveled the world fully by the time she turns thirty.

Godoy advises underclassmen to be themselves and get involved in the school community. She highlights how the four years at EHS go by quickly and encourages underclassmen to meet new people and embrace the diversity at Edison High. Godoy makes clear that one of her favorite things about EHS is its diversity. She loves that she can “bounce from friend to friend and hear about so many cultures.”

“As cliché as it sounds, sometimes it’s hard to stay true to what you believe in. Four years go by quick, allow yourself to meet new people with new ideas,” said Godoy.
