Emmanuel Kostis ‘26 and George Kostis ‘26, Varsity Soccer players at Edison High School, have earned spots on the New Jersey 2024 Boys Soccer XI, an award that showcases players with the best dedication and skill. The award is given by the Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey, a membership group that represents soccer in all levels throughout New Jersey. The brothers have also been members of the varsity boys team since their freshman year, consistently taking action on the field.
George, the team’s goalkeeper, has played 46 games over his three seasons, racking up 390 saves. This year, he even contributed an assist, showcasing his versatility.
“I felt this was a very successful season,” George said. “I was able to produce my best season with the Eagles while being a captain. I also got a spot on NJ All State team which I am extremely proud of. I hope to come back even stronger next season and help my team with another great year.”
George has performed at the same elite level since freshman year, when he was voted New Jersey’s best freshman.
On the forward end of the pitch, Emmanuel, known by his teammates as Manoli, shone as the team’s striker. Over his high school career, he has scored 23 goals and provided six assists. This season was his best yet, contributing to a combined 16 goals and assists to lead the team’s offense.
“It’s very nice to receive this much recognition this year, as well as All-State which is one of the highest awards you can get,” said Emmanuel. “It was also great to lead the team as one of the Captains. I believe next year our team will look even stronger and I’m looking forward to playing my last year for EHS!”
The Kostis brothers have been essential to the team’s success this season, earning widespread recognition from teammates and coaches alike.
“George and Emmanuel Kostis are Impact Players, their work ethic and leadership are invaluable to our program and will have a lasting effect for years to come,” said Edison Varsity boys Head Coach Mr. Steve Rubin.
