Following its release in 2022, the Clarins Lip Comfort Oil offers a nourishing formula that leaves a beautiful glow on your lips. Although made in France, the Clarins lip oil has become globally viral as arguably the most famous lip product of BeautyTok, the community on TikTok that focuses on makeup and beauty. Available both in-store and online at Sephora and Ulta stores as well as the Clarins’ website, Clarins offers a selection of ten beautiful shades, ranging from varieties of pinks, reds, purples, and even two yellowish shades. Not only will the lip product leave a beautiful glow on your lips upon application, but once the oil wears off, it leaves a slight tint that matches the shade of the oil—a double benefit for sure.
Yet, its benefits expand past the visual appeal once applied. The product, as advertised, hydrates your lips with its mixture of rose, jojoba, and hazelnut oils, making it feel as smooth as butter. While the mixture of oils supposedly provides a 44% “instant” plumping effect, no plumping really happens. On the bright side, the lip oil is definitely not sticky. When talking or pursing your lips together, the Clarins lightweight formula does not create that gross stringiness that feels tacky like glue. Sure, the $30 price point seems like a dent in your wallet, but the product is worth the look and texture. And, I personally don’t mind it since I don’t like that burning, plumping feeling.
Because of its large doe foot applicator, the product is sure to last a long time since a little goes a long way—basically, you get your money’s worth. I love the doe foot because its size perfectly hugs your lips, allowing for a smooth and mess-free application. Admittedly, when trying to pull the wand out of the tube, extensive force has to be applied. Using this much force, the lip oil could end up flying and creating a big mess—yeah, right, the extra cleaning work is really convenient, but this is the price we pay for satisfying beauty sometimes, yes? Losing product simply by opening it is undesirable because you are paying $30 for 7 milliliters—about $0.23, without tax, for just one milliliter. Despite its few flaws and cheaper competitors, like the NYX Fat Oil or the Essence Hydra Kiss Lip Oil, Clarins is a high-end brand, and the lip oil definitely performs like a high-end product. While it has its few flaws and expensive price point, the Clarins lip oil is overall a makeup lover’s splurge worth every penny.
