In Transit and Transformed
Chicago is a city full of excitement and new experiences. It is a city for exploring neighborhoods and understanding complex and diverse culture.
From the beginning of the trip to its last goodbye, each second of the city’s lights, sounds, and adventures made this trip memorable—a mixture of adventure, beauty, new experiences, and the everyday life of Chicago.
My family and I stayed near the Pullman area, and seeing all the buildings and and the neighborhood’s atmosphere helped me appreciate and understand a part of Chicago I had never experienced before. An old, historic feel, with many brick buildings, the small shops on every street, it gave the whole neighborhood an atmosphere that feels different from the busy parts of Chicago.
Visitors admired the architecture of the buildings, while most residents angrily honk at lost Ubers, rushing home while they feel the cool air caress their faces as fall begins and summer leaves.
In the rush of the crowd, as people hurriedly move from one place to another, the Bean reminds us that some things never change: standing steady, watching all.
Chicago takes the stage! The vibrant yellow tones light up the night, inviting passersby to enter the theater and enjoy the magic of live entertainment.
Amor Alien – painted by Laura Molina in the Museum of Mexican Art: The silence in the exhibit was impactful. Perhaps a dozen strangers sat in a room studying this painting, its complex theme on love colliding with Mexican culture.
“Just me, my box, relaxing, the world awaits”- Pepe, the little quaker parrot adopted in small mini mall, waits to finally leave his box and spread his wings.
Driving down the street, we paused to view art and faith collide on the side of a brick building. A show of the neighborhood’s lively Mexican culture and their pride.
The sunset marks the end of the day and the start of the journey back home. I keep a piece of The Windy City with me, never to be lost.
