The 2021 Lacrosse and Track Seasons

So far into the season, the girls lacrosse team has a record of 5–9 with 26 athletes. Goalie Alexia Stewart ‘21 was the Athlete of the Week, with 147 saves this season, while Shania Wolfe-White ‘21 earned Athlete of the Week in April, having a career number of 58 goals. “Overall, [this was] a very successful season considering the lack of a season last year and many young players,” Coach Sara Yocum said.

The boys lacrosse team has a record of 6–11. The team has 24 athletes. Jonathan Slusser ‘22 leads the team with 48 goals scored. Chris Maurath ‘23 leads the team with 17 assists. The Eagle’s Eye was not able to obtain comments from the coaches or players.

The girls track team has a record of 0–6. The team has 8 varsity athletes and 23 total athletes. Simone Stephen ‘22 improved her high jump to 4-10 this season before she had to stop due to an injury. Gayathri Narayanan ‘21 placed second in the 800 at the Greater Middlesex Conference championships and is also undefeated in the mile and 800 at dual meets.

“Hailey Matz is a young and upcoming sprinter that has some great potential,” said Coach John Krajunus.  “Our two senior throwers, Rania Alaboura and Jenna Kipnis, are great leaders and are the type of girls I can always depend on. I was happy for them when they walked out of the GMC Championships with medals around their neck.”

The varsity team was small this year (with only six upperclassmen), and Krajunus is “excited about what will happen in the next few years.”

The boys track team has a record of 1–5, with one win against Colonia. The team has 29 athletes. Players did not respond to requests for comments.
