Scoring a 73.62—the highest score of the night and the season thus far—in addition to winning first place and moving up a competition class, the Edison High School’s color guard runs their show at their first competition victoriously at Marple Newtown High School at Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Led by Marcus Henry, Kai Williams, and Kayla Wason ‘21, the team worked hard to accomplish their show.

Their show, titled “Reclaim,” tells the story of a desolate earth with hope of blossoming again. “Reclaim” is meant to show people that the earth has hope of being restored if we “take action now.” With a persevering team and hard-working color guard technicians, this concept flowered into a winsome show.

“I think the show truly displays, on an artistic level, how much the environment is being affected right now,” said Color guard member Emelin Almanzar ‘23. “The music, excerpts from news clips, all add to the solemn atmosphere and I just love how our costumes, props, and choreography work to create such a meaningful show.”

In addition to their win, the Color guard moved up a competing class, from Scholastic Regional to Scholastic AA. With this higher class, the Color guard had a second place win, 0.25 points off from first.

The color guard looks forward to a successful rest of the 2022 winter season.
