Girls Play Close Senior Night Basketball Game

On January 30, the varsity girls basketball team was defeated 64–59 in a tight Senior Night game against East Brunswick.
The night opened as the Eagles recognized their two graduating seniors, Bonnie Sellers ‘23 (#2) and Keisha Ortiz ‘23 (#4). Both have played with the team for four years.

Edison began strong, but the Bears got back on their feet. The first quarter ended 15–12, Edison.
The game from the second quarter onward was neck and neck. The lead continually swapped between the teams to the very last seconds of the fourth quarter, and the point margin was almost always by three or less and never larger than five.
The second quarter ended 31–30, Edison, and the third quarter ended 45–45.

The fourth quarter could not have been closer. With 19.5 seconds left, the score stood at 59–62, East Brunswick. The Eagles were awarded the ball after the Bears were penalized for traveling but missed the three-pointer required to go into overtime. The quarter ended 59–64.
Ortiz led the team with nineteen points, having scored three three-pointers. Trista Whitney ‘26 scored twelve points.
This game is only the girls’ third loss this season, with their record now 17–3.
