A scientist and engineer at heart, Agastya Kalagarla ‘23 has been recognized as the Rotary September Senior of the Month.
As a member of the EHS STEM Academy, Kalagarla is passionate about engineering. He’s involved in the Science Olympiad, Quiz Bowl, and Math Team. Throughout his time in EHS, Kalagarla says his curious mindset has inspired him to potentially make new discoveries.
Although Kalagarla originally felt detached from the EHS environment, he was eventually able to make a good group of friends, one of his main reasons for an improved experience.
Over this summer, Kalagarla spent time at New Jersey Governor’s School of Engineering and Technology.
“It was quite a time conducting new research on energy—which was very challenging to do—but it was a rewarding experience well worth the effort,” Kalagarla said.
As for Kalagarla’s future plans, he hopes to get a bachelor’s degree in either Aerospace Engineering, Electric Engineering or Computer Science. After graduation, he wants to work on developing propulsion for spacecrafts as he strives to constantly discover new things.
Additionally, he wishes to advise the current underclassmen to break the limits and make the most of their time at EHS.
“Keep trying harder, and you can discover things you never thought you could do,” Kalagarla said.
