With an interest in the sport of lacrosse since fourth grade, Mellinger has been on the EHS Girls Lacrosse team since her freshman year. The memories she made with her team are something that she will treasure forever.
One of her favorite high school memories is “getting the White Division Championship title with my team for the first time in school history.”
Mellinger participates in the Future Teachers Club, takes the Child Growth and Development elective, and babysits. Due to her love for children, she hopes to attend Kean University to pursue an education in teaching at the elementary school level. She also wants to continue playing lacrosse in college.
In her free time, Mellinger takes comfort in spending time with her family and friends and going shopping.
She describes her mother and sister as her role models because they had successful college years and careers. She hopes to do the same as them and follow that path.
To stay motivated while facing challenges, Mellinger looks for the good in her struggles and reminds herself of the rewards and personal growth she’ll gain. She has learned quite a few life lessons throughout her teenage years, including maintaining a positive mindset.
“Look ahead at the good things coming your way rather than the negative things happening at that moment,” adds Mellinger.
A word to describe Mellinger’s high school career would be “eventful” due to the fun times she had during her lacrosse seasons and with people around her.
