Soccer is a beautiful and popular sport, played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite almost everywhere else. The sport dates back to the earliest recorded game called cuju played in the Han Dynasty where players kicked a leather ball filled with feathers or hair into a small net. 

Even though it is centuries old, numerous people carry forward the ritual of playing. Soccer makes friendships, it creates better lives and also destroys many. “I think soccer is a great game because it brings people together. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what language you speak, soccer unites everyone,” stated Mr Teddy Sheringham, former English soccer player who played professional soccer for almost 25 years.

To see the ball, to run after it, makes me the happiest man in the world. Most of the friends that I have right now are through soccer. Soccer has always been my love, my passion, and my outlet. If I have a rough day, all I have to do is lace up my cleats and step onto the field and just like that, my worries drift away. 

Soccer is not a sport. It’s a religion.
