Theatre board Treasurer, Yearbook Club Editor-in-Chief, and Choir Board President, Kara Labadessa ‘25 has been selected for Rotary’s November Senior of the Month.
During her time at EHS, Labadessa has been a part of the Choir, Theatre, Yearbook Club, and Film Club. She is also an active member of NHS, Tri-M Honor Society, English Honor Society, and Italian Honor Society, further showcasing her academic abilities.
Labadessa stresses that she is grateful for the incredible support she received from her family throughout her high school career but also her choir teacher, Mr. Lisner, who has served as a mentor for her throughout the past four years. She says he has always believed in her abilities, both as a musician and a person. Additionally, Labadessa is grateful for the friendships she has made at EHS and memories she will cherish forever. Labadessa further highlights Edison for its “beautiful, diverse community that has left a lasting impression” on her.
After graduating, Labadessa aspires to become an opera singer and will attend college to study classical vocal performance.
Labadessa credits her own immense determination to both her classes and grades but also to her extracurricular activities. Labadessa stayed consistent in her extracurriculars while doing well in her classes.
To current and future freshmen, Labadessa encourages them to choose an extracurricular they feel they can make an impact on and something they will enjoy. While Labadessa encourages freshmen to join the various clubs EHS offers, she stresses dedication to these clubs and extracurriculars.
“I devoted myself to the arts like choir and theatre, allowing me to make a massive impact in these clubs, instead of joining five random, unrelated clubs that I would only be able to leave a small impression on,” said Labadessa.
