Varsity athlete for winter and spring track and EHS Band member, Grace White ‘25 displays her dedication to the EHS community and earns the title of Rotary’s January Senior of the Month.
White expresses her gratitude for the role her family plays in her life and the way they support her through her successes and losses. White also expresses her appreciation for the opportunity to learn and participate in multiple activities for free at EHS. White stresses the importance of taking advantage of the education and activities provided at EHS since following high school, there aren’t many similar opportunities given to you.
White acknowledges her hard work and dedication to her sport to earn this award. Though there were times during cross country and track where White feels she wasn’t performing as well as she had hoped for, she has still contributed plenty to EHS in running accolades. One specific achievement White takes pride in is winning three division championships across one cross country and two track seasons.
Apart from education, White is a three-year varsity athlete of cross country, three (soon-to-be -four) year varsity athlete of winter and spring track, has three years of involvement in the Black Student Union and has participated as a cellist for four years. White is also a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, White is a dedicated member at her church and takes advantage of many other volunteer opportunities like the Lena Harris Mentorship Foundation.
Following graduation, White plans to go to college out-of-state and study biomedical engineering. Whichever college White chooses, she aspires to run cross country and track so she can familiarize herself with the community and open doors for possible scholarship money.
To future and current underclassmen, White advises not to take time at EHS for granted. She emphasizes using time resourcefully because she believes that daily hard work will pay off in the future.
“Sure, it may seem like you have plenty of time left in high school right now, but that time moves extremely fast. Instead of being stagnant and just letting time pass by, make a splash in the EHS community,” said White.
