Four-year varsity volleyball player, two-year captain, and three-time school record holder, Ajit Pranav Sivakumar ‘25 has earned the title of Rotary’s February Senior of the Month.
Along with playing on the volleyball court, Sivakumar shows grit in his academics by being a part of Mu Alpha Theta and the Spanish National Honor Society, as well as being qualifying member for this year’s DECA state competition.
Sivakumar is grateful for all he has learned at Edison High, acknowledging the school as a key factor in who he is today. Over the past four years, EHS has taught him the importance of hard work and how far hard work can carry you. He has also learned the importance of making social connections as he became more extroverted. Most importantly, his time at EHS has taught him how to prioritize school while still enjoying his life.
Sivakumar credits teachers who have not only taught him a curriculum but also connected with him on a deeper, more personal level and offered intuitive life advice he will carry on in life. Sivakumar expresses his gratitude for his parents, his sister, and the teachers he has had, especially Dr. Gene Nasser, Mr. Michael Piccolo, Mr. Jason Wernlund, Ms. Robin Connell, and Ms. Diane Frey. Most of all, he is grateful for the friendships he has formed at EHS.
Of all his four years at EHS, Sivakumar remembers his sophomore year. He vividly recalls winning a volleyball scrimmage against West-Windsor Plainsboro, rushing to Fusion’s play in the auditorium with his friends, and having a fun and exciting time together.
“This moment showed a balance of culture and school spirit and created a memory that I will never forget,” he said.
Following his graduation from EHS, Sivakumar plans to attend college, and although he isn’t sure which college he will attend, he hopes to join a start-up that will help him pursue a career in finance.
Sivakumar explains to future underclassmen the importance of balance between work and play. He also underscores goal-setting early on.
“Knowing where you want to go and planning around that is always helpful,” he said.
