Throughout the school year, all of EHS’s athletes have showcased commendable talent and dedication, enabling Edison High to celebrate numerous victories, foster school spirit, reach new heights, and break previous records. While balancing school with sports, these competitors have served as an inspiration to future athletes, establishing “what makes Edison High great”.
Now, as the spring season and the school year begin to wrap up, not two, but four athletes have been honored as Athlete of the Week. Split into two articles, The Eagle’s Eye will cover the first two athletes in this article. To celebrate the two other chosen athletes, read this article.
Cruz Throws
Landen Cruz ‘26, our first athlete of the week, is a member of EHS’s track and field team. Firstly, Cruz won the state championship for javelin at NJSIAA Sectionals. Throwing his javelin an admirable 170 feet and two inches, he beat second place by about ten feet and captured a school record, emboldening his true capability.
Not only is Cruz talented in javelin, but he’s noteworthy in sprinting as well. In the 4×100 relay, he ran the second leg, allowing his team to place second. Overall, Cruz’s victories and versatility have improved Edison High’s track and field legacy immensely, making him a notable Athlete of the Week.
Ulozas Wins
Though this year is his first playing lacrosse, Logan Ulozas ‘28 deserves the recognition as Athlete of the Week. To start, against Central Regional, he won a majority of his face-offs (seven out of twelve). Throughout the season, his face-off win rate is 64%, demonstrating his skill and success.Furthermore, against Central Regional, Ulozas had four ground balls (retrieving the ball from the ground after it’s been dropped), showing his dexterity and determination. Ultimately, Ulozas embodies not only true commitment and dedication but also ability and technique, making him a vital player for his team.
