On September 26, the Eagles varsity football team was defeated 33–28 in a close Senior Night game against Franklin.
Prior to the game, seniors from the football team, cheerleading squad, and marching band were escorted to the field, with the commentator announcing their names and plans after graduation. The front of the field was also decorated with cutouts of all the seniors.
During halftime, the cheerleaders performed their routine, and the marching band performed their 2025 show “Coven,” featuring The End by My Chemical Romance, Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns, The Way by Fastball, Abracadabra by Lady Gaga, and Die With a Smile by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.
Edison began the game with a touchdown but a failed kick, making the score 6–0. Franklin responded, and by the end of the third quarter, the score was 27–20 in Franklin’s favor.
In the fourth quarter, with less than a minute left in the game, Edison scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion, bringing the score to 28–27. However, with only a few seconds left on the clock, Franklin managed to score another touchdown, ending the quarter with Franklin’s win.
Shaun Garland ‘27 led the team, having made three touchdowns, a two-point conversion, and four tackles for loss. Amod Dudley ‘26 also scored a touchdown and rushed 98 yards.
This game was the team’s fourth loss of the season, with their record now 1–4. Despite the loss, Head Coach Mr. Matthew Yascko and the football team remain positive.
“It was a heartbreaking loss, we battled back all game long and held a very good team to one of the lowest point totals of the year,” Yascko said.
“I definitely think we can turn this season around. We’re going to take it one game at a time, starting with Colonia and hopefully carry some momentum forward,” said Logan Ulozas ‘28.
With several games left to go in the season, the team aims for the playoffs.
