The girls basketball team had a strong comeback in their games against J.P. Stevens and Old Bridge.

Before their game against the Hawks, the girls basketball team had a streak of eleven losses. Going into their match-up, Edison was looking to bounce back from their previous loss of 41—34 against Spotswood. The Eagles maintained a lead through all four quarters during the game against J.P. Stevens, starting the game ahead with 13 points, and ending 60—29 for their first win of the season.

The team had two major scorers, with Kayley Smith ‘29 attaining 16 points and Susan Oshinski ‘28 scoring fifteen.

“During the games, I’m always excited and determined to do the best I can on the court and keep my head up as well as my team, no matter how the game is going,” said Oshinski.

Kiara McKay ‘27 and Angelisa Kearns ‘26 were also major players, attaining six rebounds and ten assists, respectively.

“One moment that really stood out was how our whole team stayed composed during key moments of the game; everyone stayed locked in and supported each other,” said Kearns.

In their following game against Old Bridge, Edison continued that momentum, winning with a score of 44—36. Smith was once again a leading player, scoring twenty points. Sinai Chavez ‘28 also had a strong performance, with a career-high of fifteen rebounds.

Throughout both games, the players demonstrated great effort and trust in each other despite the pressure of performing well.

“We needed to win both of those games, and our girls did an amazing job of executing the game plan. We had a balanced effort of scoring and defense from all of our athletes,” said Coach Frank Eckert.

Edison currently holds a record of 2-12, but is hopeful going into the end of their season.

“I am optimistic about a comeback for our team because a lot of our games have been close, and now we know what we need to do to win our games,” said Oshinski.
