EHS Pre-Calculus Honors teacher Ms. Amanda Gonczi ‘06 offers students guidance that extends far beyond the classroom and into their future careers.
Drawing from her own experience and observing students navigate big decisions, Gonczi encourages students to prioritize fulfillment and consider what truly makes them feel alive.
“When selecting a career, find something that makes you happy, even if it may not be the path that gives you the most money,” she said.
For Gonczi, that happiness comes from teaching here at Edison High, where she feels most fulfilled and connected to her purpose. Her passion for teaching traces back to her own years as a student at EHS.
“In fact, I went to Edison High and loved school,” said Gonczi. “I was very involved, as I was student council president and drum major. My involvement in Edison High School fostered a lasting, special connection to my school.”
Gonczi’s experiences at Edison High built a deep-rooted bond and love for the school, one that stayed with her long after graduation and ultimately guided her career choice. When deciding where to teach, she was inspired to specifically return to the school she considered home and found happiness in: EHS
Through her journey, Gonczi exemplifies the idea that a career is built on passion, purpose, and pleasure. Before jumping at the flashiest opportunities, she advises students to look into paths where they would feel fulfilled and excited to show up each day.
